Operating Theory
SRI Methodology
SRI is built on a set of coherent design principles that govern how every product, tool, and module operates. These principles are not aspirational — they are enforced at the system level.
What SRI Is
A structured intelligence layer — not a legal service.
Self-Representation Intelligence™ is a civic and legal-access technology framework designed to give individuals — particularly those navigating child welfare, family court, administrative, and government systems — access to the same organizational tools, documentation discipline, and procedural literacy that professionals use as a matter of course.
SRI is not a law firm, a legal aid organization, or a court filing system. It does not provide legal advice, and it does not represent clients. What it does is reduce the informational and organizational asymmetry that makes complex systems difficult to navigate for people who cannot afford professional representation.
The operating theory is straightforward: better-organized, better-documented, more procedurally-informed people participate more effectively in the systems that affect their lives. SRI provides the structure for that participation.
Core Methodologies
Twelve structured methodologies.
SRI methodologies are structured ways of organizing, contextualizing, verifying, communicating, and responsibly using information. Each methodology answers a different question inside the broader framework.
Evidence Intelligence™
What information exists, where did it come from, and how does it connect?
Identifies, organizes, and contextualizes available information. Establishes source relationships and builds a coherent evidential picture from raw material.
Timeline Intelligence™
What happened, when did it happen, and how do events relate over time?
Constructs chronological records that make the sequence and relationships between events clear, traceable, and usable in structured contexts.
Documentation Intelligence™
How should information be organized and maintained?
Provides structured methods for capturing, categorizing, and preserving information so it remains useful, navigable, and integrity-intact over time.
Procedural Intelligence™
How does this system work?
Maps institutional processes, decision points, timelines, and obligations so individuals can understand where they are and what comes next.
Communication Intelligence™
How can this information be communicated effectively?
Structures written and verbal communication to institutional register — clear, factual, non-adversarial, and appropriate to the decision-maker receiving it.
Information Integrity™
How can information remain trustworthy and transparent?
Maintains clear distinctions between facts, assumptions, interpretations, and conclusions. Ensures attribution, source transparency, and traceability throughout.
Advocacy Intelligence™
How can lived experience responsibly inform public understanding and civic participation?
Translates personal experience into structured, evidence-based materials for public education, civic engagement, and systemic transparency — within ethical bounds.
Provenance Intelligence™
Where did this come from, and how do we know?
Tracks and documents the origin, handling, and lineage of information so its source and chain of custody can be verified and communicated.
Verification Intelligence™
Has this evidence changed, and can its authenticity be verified?
Applies structured integrity checks to detect alterations, confirm authenticity, and document the verification process.
Chain-of-Custody Intelligence™
Who handled this, when, and is the record of custody unbroken?
Documents the full custodial history of evidence — who possessed it, when, and under what conditions — so the integrity of the chain can be demonstrated.
Discovery Intelligence™
What potential evidence or information exists that hasn't been identified yet?
Applies systematic frameworks to identify evidence gaps, surface overlooked material, and ensure a comprehensive evidentiary picture before conclusions are drawn.
Strategic Intelligence™
How does this evidence connect to the issues and objectives that matter most?
Links organized information to the specific questions, issues, and objectives at stake — ensuring that what is gathered is what is actually needed.
Built-In Safeguards
What SRI explicitly does not do.
Boundary discipline is a design feature — not a disclaimer appended after the fact.
Not Legal Advice
SRI does not provide legal advice, legal strategy, legal representation, or professional legal judgment. Every SRI product carries this disclosure. The boundary is persistent, not situational.
No Outcome Guarantees
SRI does not guarantee any result in any proceeding, process, or interaction. Providing structure, documentation tools, and plain-language guidance is not the same as predicting, influencing, or controlling outcomes.
No Official Record Alteration
SRI tools do not alter, amend, expunge, or officially modify any government, court, or agency record. Any response-to-record workflow documents a response — it does not change the original record.
No Truth Determination
SRI does not determine what is factually true, legally valid, evidentiarily admissible, or officially accepted. It helps users organize and present their own information. The determination of factual or legal matters rests with courts, agencies, and licensed professionals.
Escalation Awareness
SRI is designed to help individuals recognize when a matter has moved beyond what self-representation tools can address, and when licensed professional representation is warranted. That recognition is a feature, not a limitation.
For Reviewers & Evaluators
SRI is designed to survive scrutiny.
SRI is intended for evaluation by public-sector, legal, academic, and child-welfare technology audiences. The methodology is designed to be legible, auditable, and bounded — not to make maximalist claims about what the system can do.
Every product in the SRI ecosystem is built against a consistent set of constraints: source-centered, provenance-aware, plain-language, human-in-the-loop, and explicitly non-legal-advice. These constraints are enforced in product design, in content, and in the persistent disclaimers that accompany every user-facing surface.
SRI does not claim government endorsement, official certification, active deployment in any government system, or legal-service status. It claims to be what it is: a structured information and documentation framework designed to improve access and participation for people navigating complex institutional systems.
